Photographing dancers is always exciting! The energy and movement that is created during these sessions is positively contagious. When Hudson came into our studio for a dancers headshot we not only had the opportunity to capture it for her, but to also witness and photograph her amazing moves. Needless to say we were thoroughly impressed! Check out some great moments from our session with the incredible Hudson -
We had the privilege of meeting this amazing family when we did a cake smash with their first son, Liam, read all about that session here. Once baby Noah joined the family I was thrilled to jump in and photograph this handsome baby boy!
I am hoping this family has more kids, cause they are just so darn cute!
Here are a few of our faves!
I was so thrilled when I got a text from a long time client (and now great friend) telling me that she was pregnant with baby number two! Jenny and I met each other when she was pregnant with her first child, Tristan, and after just a few moments in the studio it was clear that Jenny and her husband J were going to become an important part of our lives at Left of Centre Photography! I feel so fortunate to have Jenny and her gorgeous family in my life and I am honoured to be chosen to capture these important memories for her! I wanted to do something different with her maternity photos this time around and I had been playing around with the idea of doing Milk Bath photographs. Our home studio comes equipped with a gorgeous clawfoot bathtub and I was itching to give it a try. Jenny was willing to be my guinea pig and her patience while I fussed with the flowers (and made Jeff go down the road to cut a few lilacs) was amazing.
Jenny is one gorgeous lady and I am very pleased with how the milk bath images turned out. Here are just a few of my faves- including Jeff placing himself nicely into one of their family portraits!
In a world where on average a person is inundated with thousands of photos per day it is important to make sure that your personal image makes a serious impact. If you run a business or need your online profile to make an impression and stand out from all the other faces an eye-catching portrait is key. How you want to portray yourself is a significant part of what kind of photograph you need. Three things to keep in mind before having a professional head shot taken:
1- How you want people to feel when they see you or the look you want to portray.
My personal rule of thumb while photographing business portraits is to make the person look professional but approachable. This look tends to be the best of both worlds, but ask yourself what kind of message you want to deliver to a potential client or employer.
2- What position do you currently hold within your company?
A photograph of a corporate Vice President holding a beer bottle in a lounge chair is not the most professional image to attach to a company and yes, I have seen this exact profile picture used on LinkedIn. If you sell beer, you may have hit your mark, but if you have any other career, this is can come across a little sloppy. When it comes to your online presence the message you give is important.
3- Are you looking to move up within a company or change careers?
If you aren't happy in the position you currently hold that's ok. The idea is present an image that represents where you want to be. Self image is incredibly important to how you act and feel about where you are and want to be, not only professionally, but in life in general. Putting your best foot and best face forward can change your life!

I don't know about you, but I am loving this warm weather! I am ready to get into my garden, go for long walks, read a book in the sun, and of course start bringing my family portrait sessions outdoors! This session took place on this family's farm and we had so much fun with this amazing family of four!

I know I usually post on Thursdays, but this is super important.... This Father's Day is Sunday June 17th, yup THIS Sunday!
I don't know about you guys, but my Dad has always been my rock. From candy smuggler to solid shoulder to cry on, my Dad just gets me. My Mum always says my Dad and I are the same. This is something I am really proud about, especially because my Dad is one of the smartest people I know!
One of the best things about Dads is that they a generally very happy with whatever you get them. They would be completely humble if you handed them some half-chewed gum. I don't recommend doing that! I do recommend one of our customizable Gift Certificates! People don't realize how much Dads love photos. My Dad has pictures of our family everywhere and every time I bring one of my family photographs over for my parent's it mysteriously disappears from the main level and can be found in a special place in his home office. I bet you can guess what I am getting my Dad this year!
Here is a sample of our epic Father's Day Gift Certificate!
